Congratulations must be in order if you are about to embark on a new journey of your life… you are getting married. You’ve probably lost a little weight before taking on your wedding dress search. It won’t take you long to find the dress that matches and accentuates your “perfect” day especially if you spend hours upon hours looking for it. When all has been decided, you have chosen to wear an ivory colored dress for your wedding day. Everything is as it should be, right? Not quite.

You see, while you may have your dress, you still have other pressing matters to attend to. Like what? How about what the groom is going to wear that will match your ivory colored wedding dress. Is there even a possibility that what the groom wears will match with your dress? No doubt you’ll be double questioning your choice of color but don’t have the heart to take back your dress.

Believe it or not, brides face this kind of dilemma nearly every day. Do they or don’t they take the dress back? Many people believe that the white of the groom’s clothing (tuxedo) will make the ivory color look dirty or at least a dirty shade of white. Unfortunately, it is true. If the color white is the only color that resembles your ivory colored dress, your dress is likely to look “dirty”.

You can avoid this by making sure the groom wears some kind of ivory colored attire on his tuxedo. However, it’s best for the groom not to wear an ivory colored shirt to go with his black tuxedo. If anything, just have him wear an ivory colored necktie or a bowtie so that it doesn’t stand out but matches your wedding dress.

How else can you make sure that no guests get the impression that your wedding dress is dirty? Have the groomsmen wear matching ivory neckties or bowties to match your dress and your groom’s attire.

Have you guessed by now that the color ivory is tricky to match? By finding ways to make your groom’s attire match yours, you can rest assured that no one will think your “perfect” day was ruined by a dirty dress. The pictures you take will look just as stunning as if you have worn a white dress.

So go ahead…take a look at the ivory colored dress. You no longer have to stick with a white dress for your wedding day.

Your boyfriend popped the big question and you said yes. You finalize a date and now it’s time to get the nitty-gritty down. It can be a daunting task to get everything that needs to be done for the wedding done in time even for brides that are usually organized when it comes to stressful matters. After all, you are getting married. However, you don’t have to go about this alone especially when you are wondering about your wedding dress. Here are nine questions brides typically have regarding their wedding dresses.

First, when should you begin searching for your wedding dress?

Even before the date to your wedding has been set, begin looking for your dress. Wedding gown shopping can take time. You don’t want just any ordinary gown. You will want to find that “perfect” dress. The chances that alterations and other accessories will need to be done are pretty good. Give yourself plenty of time to look and correct your dress before your big day.

Second, where can you turn to if you need some ideas about your wedding dress?

Pick up a bridal magazine at your local supermarket. Your dress choices will depend largely on when the wedding is, the kind of wedding you are planning and the budget you have set for your wedding dress.

Third, do you really need someone to come with your wedding dress shopping?

Absolutely. When you have a friend or relative shopping with you, they can give you their unbiased opinion about the dress you are trying on as well as be there for moral support. Dress shopping with someone can be quite enjoyable.

Fourth, do you have to put a deposit on your dress?

Most stores require a deposit, typically half the cost of the dress. When you find your wedding dress, pay with a credit card. Why? If something is wrong with your purchase, you can seek a reimbursement with your credit card company.

Fifth, why is your wedding dress a bigger size than your waistline?

The sizing chart that wedding dress designers use are different so that they are usually a little bigger than sizes you found in your local retail store. When you are looking for your dress, just find one that fits your frame. Most brides tend to lose weight before the wedding so keep this in mind. It’s easier to take in a dress than to expand it.

Sixth, should you have the accessories you plan to wear with you at the fitting?

Absolutely. Any undergarments such as hoop skirts or slips can affect your dress sizing so be sure you bring them with you. You want your dress to fit you now, as it will on your wedding day.

Seventh, what should you be concerned with in your wedding dress?

Inspect your dress. Look at the seams to be sure they are complete. You don’t want gaps in your dress’ stitching. Buttons should be secured. Other dress accessories such as beads should be on the dress very well, with little chances of falling off as can happen with beads that are glued on.

Eighth, how can you protect yourself should something go wrong with your wedding dress purchase?

Above anything else, pay with a credit card. Many bridal shops have non-refundable policies with the deposit and paying with a credit card allows you some leeway out. Be sure you get you a purchase order that way you can match against the problem you are experiencing.

Ninth, can you still get a great dress even on a low budget?

Believe it or not, you don’t need to spend a lot of money to get a great wedding dress. Many bridal shops will hold dress sales including knocking some prices down to $99. Don’t limit your choices either. You can find a great wedding dress by looking at prom dresses too.

Picking a dress out can be a rather tedious thing. There are so many to choose from. You have dresses in stores and there are dresses online. However, when it comes right down to it, no dress is absolutely perfect. One dress may stand out for shape, another might stand out for its fabric and another might have embroidery that a bride likes. It’s quite possible that she’ll see a dress that is perfect for her. Still, the price of the dress can break any budget. If you are a large woman or short, you may have slim pickings for your dress.

If this is your problem, it’s time to look at dresses that you can create on your own. It’s likely you have had an idea of what your dress is going to look like before you went out looking for it anyway. You can look anywhere for inspiration for your wedding dress. Start looking in magazines, the Internet, fashion shows, designer news, etc. By choosing your own wedding gown design, you aren’t limited by what you can do and not do to your dress.

If you plan to sew your own wedding dress, lace and chiffon fabrics work best. Chiffon fabric allows women to create a dress they like. This means you can add things to it without fear of damage. What kinds of things? You can have ruffles or floating trains, sleeves, scooped neck designs, multilayer, etc. Silky chiffon is quite comfortable to wear and feels good on the body. Brides like the Chiffon material because it is elegant but also simple.

Most manufacturers will use tissue paper in between two chiffon pieces that are being sewed together so they stay in place. Once sewing is complete, the tissue paper will need to be ripped out slowly. Chiffon material should be carefully worked on. Going through a sewing machine too fast can cause it to bunch and gather.

There is no limit to a bride’s imagination especially when she is designing her own wedding dress. Still, if you plan to be one of the many women who take it upon themselves to design their own wedding gown, keep these three tips in mind.

First, make sure the A-line silhouette lengthens and slims your figure.

Second, ball gowns are wonderful for strapping brides. They can be worn with high heels or platform shoes.

Third, brides who have wide shoulders and backs have a feminine look with column dresses.

If you want to have an antique dress restored for your wedding, this can be done. As long as it has been preserved well, this family heirloom can be worn for the wedding and then preserved again for the next member of the family. While you can do this for yourself, it is best if you hire someone to do it instead. Why? Antique dress restoration requires certain supplies and knowledge. During the restoration process, a thin, tough layer of silk will support the old dress fabric. This silk often saves the original cloth.

It’s not unheard of a bride choosing two wedding dresses for her special day. In fact, it’s an upswing trend that can get a bit costly. Does this mean that the bride is spoiled? Perhaps. However, the idea is to splurge on the day you get married. After all, you only get married once in your life so why not spend some money to look good on your wedding day.

How is it that a bride will come to have two wedding dresses and not just one? Imagine you are a bride looking for your perfect wedding dress. You find a dress that you love to wear during the nuptials but know that it’d be terrible to try and dance in during the reception. What do you do? You continue looking for a dress that can do both but you run across another dress you love to wear but not for the wedding. It’s comfortable to dance at your reception. Do you continue looking or what? Actually, you decide to go with both dresses.

If you ask most couples getting married, they often want a reception that’s not stuffy. In fact, they’d like to have a reception to remember with plenty of dancing and talking. Some couples go as far as setting aside an area to dance in. The wedding dress you decided to wear for the nuptials just won’t do.

Another reason a bride may choose a second wedding dress is when she can’t help but go with her dream dress such as a ball gown. If she has a beach wedding and still wants to wear this gown, she’ll choose another one to dance in that’s much easier for her to breathe in.

Wedding reception dresses are usually much lighter than ones worn for the nuptials. If you decide on a second wedding dress, it should still be white or ivory so you’ll stand out from other guests. You can also go with a dress that has some style to it. Try choosing a dress that is tea or knee length for your wedding reception dress. If you want, try on a vintage 1950s party skirt/dress.

Why is it so fun to purchase two wedding dresses? Imagine the look on your guests’ faces as they see you in one dress and as if by magic, are wearing a complete different one. You don’t have to wear a veil the second time around but you’ll need the other accessories nearby.

If you want something a little unique but different for both the wedding nuptials and the wedding reception, try the same kind of necklace but make one more elegant than the other. You certainly want to wear the more elegant one during your wedding nuptials. Again, just imagine the look on your guests’ face as they notice you look a bit different from your wedding nuptials to your wedding reception.

In all honesty, you don’t have to stick with just two dresses. You can go a third if you want. How so? You and your new husband eventually have to leave the reception. Why not leave with a little more style? Your dress to leave in doesn’t have to be near as fancy as the wedding and reception gowns but should still have some class to it.

Why are beaches so popular for weddings? It’s because the ocean makes a wonderful backdrop to a beautiful ceremony. Many brides find this beach setting a motivation to the kind of wedding dress they will need for the occasion. The dress typically used is casual in nature. A formal dress that is floor length is not needed in this kind of setting. Instead, brides will garner a casual dress with a short veil and flower garland.

If you are bride looking to have a beach wedding, then you are seeking for the appropriate wedding dress attire that you and your guests should wear. There are all kinds of things you can wear such as a sarong or similar kind of attire. If you need help looking for the perfect wedding dress to wear, look at online stores for some ideas. If you want to, have your guests enjoy the beach wedding barefooted. There’s no need they should get costly footwear sandy. Your guests can go a little further themselves with the beach attire by putting in flowers in their hair.

If you hire a wedding planner, he/she can place red carpet on the beach. When this is done, it will typically complement the casual wedding dress the bride has chosen to wear. This also helps people who are in the wedding to walk across the sand was little to no difficulty.

Where can you find a casual wedding dress to wear? Many United States stores cater to beach weddings because it has grown in popularity over the last few years. Depending on the style and design, dresses can cost in upwards of $200.

Keep in mind that these dresses aren’t just causal. They are simple but stylish. They are designed to complement the beach background and are very affordable. If you can find discounts, use them. You can get a beach wedding dress for practically nothing.

If you want something even more beach oriented, wear a bikini or swimsuit with a sarong. You can purchase these through the Internet, in stores or by catalogs. Sarongs are quickly becoming a beach wedding dress trend.

There are plenty of sarong designs to pick from. Choose one that reflects your personality. You don’t have to be the only one that wears them. Have your bridesmaids use them as well. Be sure that whatever you and your bridesmaids end up wearing that the groom’s and best men’s attire complements the beach wedding style too.
