Ivory: The New Bridal White for Wedding Dresses/Gowns

Congratulations must be in order if you are about to embark on a new journey of your life… you are getting married. You’ve probably lost a little weight before taking on your wedding dress search. It won’t take you long to find the dress that matches and accentuates your “perfect” day especially if you spend hours upon hours looking for it. When all has been decided, you have chosen to wear an ivory colored dress for your wedding day. Everything is as it should be, right? Not quite.

You see, while you may have your dress, you still have other pressing matters to attend to. Like what? How about what the groom is going to wear that will match your ivory colored wedding dress. Is there even a possibility that what the groom wears will match with your dress? No doubt you’ll be double questioning your choice of color but don’t have the heart to take back your dress.

Believe it or not, brides face this kind of dilemma nearly every day. Do they or don’t they take the dress back? Many people believe that the white of the groom’s clothing (tuxedo) will make the ivory color look dirty or at least a dirty shade of white. Unfortunately, it is true. If the color white is the only color that resembles your ivory colored dress, your dress is likely to look “dirty”.

You can avoid this by making sure the groom wears some kind of ivory colored attire on his tuxedo. However, it’s best for the groom not to wear an ivory colored shirt to go with his black tuxedo. If anything, just have him wear an ivory colored necktie or a bowtie so that it doesn’t stand out but matches your wedding dress.

How else can you make sure that no guests get the impression that your wedding dress is dirty? Have the groomsmen wear matching ivory neckties or bowties to match your dress and your groom’s attire.

Have you guessed by now that the color ivory is tricky to match? By finding ways to make your groom’s attire match yours, you can rest assured that no one will think your “perfect” day was ruined by a dirty dress. The pictures you take will look just as stunning as if you have worn a white dress.

So go ahead…take a look at the ivory colored dress. You no longer have to stick with a white dress for your wedding day.
